As a web development company that has recently created eCommerce sites for, Tailwaters Fly Fishing, Colour Me, Colorco, and Dom Fight Gear, we know that Magento’s new Enterprise 1.12 and Community 1.7 editions has just raised the bar with its newest consumer friendly features.
With added value features like, easier order placement, and mobile optimization; online retailers will be better equipped to increase customer engagement, create brand loyalty, and grow conversions. All online merchants will now be able to take advantage of better consumer friendly features like, multiple wish lists, advanced product recommendations, and customer segmentation, while staying compliant with both US and EU regulations.
Magento’s New Consumer Friendly Features
Mobile HTML5 (Enterprise & Community)
Magento’s new mobile interface improves on the old iPhone Theme that was introduced back in 2008. Its new mobile interface supports HTML5 and is useable on iPhone, Android and Mobile Opera browsers which make it compliant to the majority of mobile customers.
Visitor Segmentation (Enterprise)
You can now identify and target special promotions to unknown site visitors, even if they aren’t registered customers. This adds the possibility that your casual browsers can now be turned into converted buyers.
Expanded Rule-based Product Relations (Enterprise)
You can now target a specific customer segment with product recommendations. This allows you to create a different related products list for each customer based off of items that are specifically in that customer’s shopping cart. This feature also allows you to do up-sells and cross-sells as well as related products to create a more relevant shopping experience.
Auto-generation of Coupon Codes (Enterprise & Community)
You can now generate and manage unique coupon codes for each promotion, distribution, newsletter, or email campaign you create. You can also create detailed reports that will help you monitor your coupons usage & success throughout your marketing campaign.
Multiple Wish Lists (Enterprise)
You now have more ways to manage your wish lists. You can save products to multiple wish lists, and copy/ move products from one list to another. Wish lists can also be both public and private so you can share them with other people.
Layered Navigation Pricing Enhancement (Enterprise & Community)
You can now display a range of prices ($10, $20, $30) in search results, while keeping the same number of products for each price range. This gives you better control of your customer’s search results while giving your customers more pricing options for greater choice.
Customer Group Pricing (Enterprise & Community)
You can now create multiple price points for different customer groups like wholesalers, and retailers. This can help you determine your base price and tiered pricing levels for the different groups you will sell to.
Add to Cart by SKU (Enterprise)
For large orders you can now enter a list of SKU’s without going to each products page. This allows for a streamlined ordering process, which is especially good for B2B customers. This feature is great for recurring orders, large orders or orders based off of online or paper catalogs.
Conclusion
While this isn’t a comprehensive list of all of Magento’s newest features, the use of these consumer friendly features will help enrich your customers’ experience, leading to extra conversions and additional money.
