Before I get into the tools, techniques and strategies to enhance our online presence I wanted to stress a few key points.
First off, a big part of whether or not this will be successful depends on interaction from each and every one of us. The days of bots or AI crawlers (automated programs that more or less spam the web with promotional links) are over. We literally have to have actual people doing most of this stuff or it simply won’t work. There are a few shortcuts we can use, but for the most part we have to get our hands dirty to do this right.
The second point I wanted to stress, is that you have to see the big picture when you look at all this. In all my research over the past few years, the one thing that seems to be prevalent in high traffic sites is their ability to maintain a consistent web based promotional campaign on multiple levels. These guys aren’t simply relying on the traditional methods of generating traffic, they use every tool available to them. It is my honest belief we should do the same if we expect to stay in business. We cannot rely solely on our Sales People or traditional marketing outlets to fruit consistent results. Combining all of these tools and strategies WITH our existing marketing is what will really put us over the top, especially in the current economic climate.
The last thing I really wanted to say is to try to think outside of the box. I know for a fact each and every one of you have used Myspace or Facebook at least once. You don’t have to be a programmer to interact with these social networks and blogs to build our online presence. In fact, this is the one area of our marketing the entire company can take part in. Sales, IT and even top Management can utilize almost all of these outlets and get results.
In the future, I will be outlining some of the most pertinent SEO techniques and tools currently available utilizing inexpensive yet effective strategies that I believe will get our company the best results.
