Google +, can it be Facebook?

Google+ vs Facebook

As we approach the one year anniversary of Google+, I ponder whether it will able to seriously compete with Facebook, or whether it will be Google’s fourth failed attempt at entering the social media market.

With a user base hovering around 90 million, Google+’s user numbers are still growing at a steady pace. However, surpassing the early adopter stage and becoming a part of mainstream usage is a large obstacle Google+ must overcome.

Google is putting its full weight behind this endeavor, and directly integrating Google+ into the search ranking algorithm. Because of this, it has been impossible for companies to ignore if they are hoping to be a blip on the Google search radar.

When Google+ Pages was launched last November, every business rushed to create a company profile page in hopes of replicating the popularity of the similar Facebook Pages as to not get left behind by their competitors.

Google+ is considered Google’s biggest attempt at rivaling Facebook, and it has become one of the most popular topics at every SEM tradeshow, including this year’s SMX West in San Jose, CA.

Magic Logix will be in attendance at SMX West this year – stop by booth #419 and we’ll share our Google+ tips with you!
